The C30-7 was a follow-up to GE's successful U30C locomotive design. The C30-7 is a 6-axle diesel locomotive that was built between 1976 and 1986, and is powered by a 16-cylinder, 3,000 horsepower (2,200 kW) FDL-series diesel engine. With design changes including larger, more prominent radiators, and a "step"-like structure to the fore of the radiators which gave the long hood a subtly different shape to its predecessor. More than 1,100 of these locomotive were built for North American railroads, nearly double that of the U30C, with the locomotive seeing use on numerous railroads both in North America and Europe.
